The Records Retention & Disposition Schedule is a tool for staff & faculty at UNC system schools to use to manage the records created in their offices. It outlines the typically records created by university offices & dictates how long those records should be maintained (retention), how they should be disposed (disposition), & which records have permanent retention value & should be sent to the University Archives.

Records Retention Cheatsheet
Records Retention Cheat Sheet, a quick guide to what records are to be sent to University Archives after the noted length of time, after their usefulness.
These records are also all outlined in the full retention schedule, however this document shows only the records that the retention schedule deems as permanently valuable.
If your records in question do not appear on this sheet, please refer to the full retention schedule, and/or consult with the University Archivist before making any permanent decisions on retention or disposition.
