Since President George H. W. Bush approved the designation in 1990, November has been a month to pay tribute to the rich ancestry and traditions of Native Americans. It is also a time to raise awareness about the challenges Native American people have faced both in the past and present, and the ways in which they work to conquer these challenges. With the books in this display, join us in honoring the rich histories, diverse cultures and important contributions of our nation’s first people.
November is Native American Heritage Month in recognition of the significant contributions the first Americans made to the establishment & growth of the United States. Works included in this display are testimonies of activism, culture, experience, history & identity. Please join Atkins Library in paying tribute to the rich ancestry & traditions of Native Americans -- past, present & future.
