Harry Potter's World (2016)

In December 2016 Atkins Library welcomed the traveling exhibit from the National Library of Medicine, Harry Potter's World: Renaissance Magic, Science, & Medicine. In 1997, J. K. Rowling introduced the world to Harry Potter & a literary phenomenon was born. Although a fantasy story, the magic in the Harry Potter books is partially based on Renaissance traditions that played an important role in the development of Western science, including alchemy, astrology, & natural philosophy. December's display supported the exhibit with books about Harry Potter's world & its roots in those beliefs & discoveries. (https://www.nlm.nih.gov/exhibition/harrypottersworld/index.html)
